Four New Applications | Company's Machine Repair Shop Completes Experimental Installation of AI Intelligent Anti-Collision System for Forklifts

Recently, the company's machine repair shop, focusing on forklift operation safety management, innovatively introduced an AI intelligent anti-collision system integrated with millimeter-wave radar, successfully completing the experimental installation and debugging of three in-use forklifts. This marks a crucial step forward in the company's intelligent upgrade of forklift operation safety protection from the traditional "passive response" to "active early warning + automatic braking + behavioral regulation."

Forklifts are crucial equipment in the daily operations of the machine repair shop, operating in complex scenarios with frequent personnel and vehicle interactions. Traditional protection methods have shortcomings such as blind spots, limited early warning systems, and insufficient monitoring of driver behavior, making it difficult to completely eliminate safety hazards. To solve this problem, after thorough research and technical demonstration, the machine repair shop decided to adopt a technical solution that deeply integrates AI human body recognition and millimeter-wave radar to build a comprehensive safety protection system of "vehicle surrounding environment protection + driver behavior monitoring."

It is understood that the system provides dual protection: Firstly, high-definition cameras are deployed in the front, rear, left, and right sides of the forklift cab, accurately identifying people and objects within a 0-20 meter range. Simultaneously, a millimeter-wave radar is installed at the rear of the vehicle, capable of real-time detection and display of the exact distance between the target and the vehicle, overcoming the limitations of single-vision recognition in complex environments. Secondly, a camera is simultaneously installed in the cab, using AI algorithms to monitor the driver's actions in real time. Once unsafe driving behaviors such as not wearing a seatbelt, smoking, or making phone calls are detected, the system will immediately remind the driver to operate the vehicle correctly. When the vehicle is reversing or people or objects are approaching, the system will simultaneously trigger multiple warnings: a radar alarm in the cab alerts the driver, a voice alarm outside the cab issues a warning message, and warning lights flash simultaneously, achieving two-way warning for the driver and surrounding personnel. If the risk is not eliminated after the warning, the system will automatically transmit a signal to the brake motor, pulling the brakes via a lead wire to force the vehicle to stop and avoid the obstacle, forming a closed-loop protection system of "environmental perception - behavior monitoring - dual warnings - automatic braking."

"Previously, we relied entirely on drivers' careful observation and conscious adherence to standardized operating procedures. Now, with this system, it not only provides early warnings of the surrounding environment and automatically brakes, but also constantly reminds us to drive properly. It's like equipping the forklift with an 'intelligent safety guardian,' greatly enhancing our sense of security!" said Wang Jianbo, a forklift driver who participated in the system testing. The successful installation of this experiment has effectively improved the safety of forklift operations, reducing the risk of collisions caused by blind spots and minimizing the possibility of accidents due to improper driver operation. Next, the repair shop will continue to monitor the system's operation, collect optimization suggestions, and leverage technology to empower safe production, safeguarding the company's high-quality development.
